Thames Barrier Park are working with the Museum In Docklands and local historians to research the history of the site which is now Thames Barrier Park.
Existing research and the Ordnance Surveys of 1867, 1894 and 1916 show the site as Prince Regents Wharf (Petroleum and Chemical Works) prior to which the site was probably undeveloped riverbank until the development of the Royal Docks approximately 150 years ago. However this page will be updated as further information becomes available.
CAN YOU HELP?
We would be interested to hear from local people who may remember the site as a working wharf -
- Maybe you, or an older family member, lived nearby or worked there?
- Maybe you worked on the river and delivered materials to the wharf?
- Maybe you have researched the area for a school project?
- Maybe you have interesting stories, photographs or documents that we can publish on this page?
If you have any information about the history Prince Regents Wharf then we want to hear from you. Please contact:
